International Organizations and Conferences Yacoub Al-Hosani
on May 1. EconChief followed up with Al-Hosani on May 10 with
points from reftel B and was told that several other
governments had contacted the MFA to ask the UAE to block the
Belarus bid for a seat on the UN Human Rights Council.
Al-Hosani said that the UAE has not developed an official
position yet, but that he was in contact with the UAE mission
in New York. Al-Hosani told EconChief that the UAE was not
currently supporting the Belarus bid and that, personally, he
believed the UAE would not support Belarus.
