On August 26 the Embassy received the following response via Diplomatic Note 2489 from the United Arab Emirates. ¶2. Begin informal Embassy translation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America in Abu Dhabi. The United Arab Emirates proposes an exchange of support between the UAE and the United States of America. The UAE will support the U.S. for re-election to Membership Category Part I of the ICAO Council in exchange for U.S. support for UAE membership in the ICAO Council (Category Three). This support would take place during the elections held during the 36th session of the ICAO General Assembly, to be held in Montreal in September 2007. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would hope to get a written reply from the concerned U.S. authorities affirming this exchange of support.
