1. (C) The Ambassador delivered reftel points to Deputy
Foreign Minister Arman Kirakossian July 21, stressing that
Armenia should use its influence with Iran to encourage the
government to accept the P5 1 package and suspend nuclear
enrichment-related activities. Kirakossian said he would
discuss the issue with the Armenian ambassador to Iran and
ask him to approach the Iranian government on the subject.
2. (C) Kirakossian said Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi
Safari told him during his recent trip to Iran that, while
some points of the proposal were "acceptable," the government
had questions about other points. Kirakossian did not
elaborate on the details, but said Safari's reaction to the
proposal was "sort of positive."
