1. (S/NF) We delivered ref A points regarding GOAM support
for Iraqi and Afghan Security Forces to Foreign Relations and
Military Cooperation Department Head General-Major Misha
Melkonyan February 13. Melkonyan told us that he would
forward our request "to military leadership" but that
Armenia, with a contingent of troops deployed in Iraq, was
already doing all it could to support international efforts.
Limited by a lack of resources, Melkonyan told us, "we,
ourselves, need support."
2. (S/NF) We also delivered ref A points to Ministry of
Foreign Affairs NATO Section Head Marta Ayvazyan. Ayvazyan
told us she would request priorities lists from the Armenian
Mission to NATO and forward our request to her "superiors."
