1. (SBU) On January 24 the Siberia Airlines plane
making Moscow-Yerevan flight 906 diverted to land in
Baku due to poor weather conditions in Yerevan. The
passengers did not leave the craft and were served hot
food. After spending two hours in Baku, the plane flew
to Tbilisi and continued to land later the same day in
Yerevan.
2. (SBU) General Director of Civil Aviation Artyom
Movsesyan told us that no security issues arose during
those two hours in Baku, and that the decision to land
in Baku was made by the crew of the airplane.
According to Movsesyan, the two countries' civil
aviation officials successfully work to "maintain
friendly relations in order to avoid major
catastrophes."
