1. Embassy is in receipt of a diplomatic note from the New Zealand
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) informing us that they
have decided to support the candidature of Michael Matheson for the
International Law Commission. The text of the note follows.
2. Begin text:
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade presents its compliments
to the Embassy of the United States of AMERICA and has the honour to
advise that the New Zealand Government has decided to support the
candidature of Mr. Michael Matheson for re-election as one of the 34
experts of the International Law Commission at the elections
scheduled for 16 November 2006 at UNGA 61 in New York.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade takes this opportunity to
renew to the Embassy of the United States of AMERICA the assurances
of its highest consideration."
