(C) We delivered reftel points to Giedre Gelezeviciene of
MFA's Central and Southeastern Europe Division on August 21.
We briefed Gelezeviciene about the ongoing political
negotiations over the future status of Kosovo and outlined
the USG's view. While noting that Lithuania is not directly
engaged in the political process, she appreciated the
information and noted the GOL continues to monitor the
situation. Lithuania plans to maintain its deployment of 32
soldiers through KFOR and two officers in the KFOR
headquarters for the foreseeable future.
