SUBJECT: LITHUANIA HOPES FOR WTO AGREEMENT

(SBU) We delivered reftel points regarding U.S. views on the Doha
Development Agenda (DDA) negotiations to the MFA's Trade Policy
Department (TPD) on June 26. Dalia Kadisiene, head of the TPD's
International Economic Organizations Division, told us on June 29
that she understands that time is running out to reach a DDA
agreement and that she hopes that this weekend's negotiations in
Geneva will result in a major step forward. She added that the
current triangular state of play means that all sides need to move
to reach an agreement. We emphasized that the USG has an ambitious
proposal on agriculture on the table and that we expected the EU to
show a similar level of ambition.
