Post contacted Lydia Saadat from the MFA's Development Assistance
Department to discuss the GoA's assistance in the aftermath of the
South Asia earthquake. Saadat confirmed that Austria committed -
and was already disbursed -- its pledges to support relief and
reconstruction after the earthquake. According to Saadat, Austria
pledged Euro 4.21 million at the November 2005 Donors Conference.
Given the 2005 dollar/euro exchange rate at the end of year(Euro
1:$1.24),reftel UNOCHA figures appear to reflect actual Austrian
disbursements.
