USUN has faxed to Department (IO/PSC-Charles Casper and IO/EX/OB-Alice Green a copy of a note and three related annexes from the SYG dated August 31, 2006 concerning the financing of two peacekeeping operations. Annex One contains current amounts payable by the U.S. Government as follows: Operation Amount($) -------------- -------------- UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) 10,852,986 8/1/06 - 12/31/06 UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) 51,090,347 8/16/06 - 12/31/06 Total Payable: $61,943,333 ¶2. The note states that funds are urgently required for the financing of these operations and are due within thirty days of receipt of the note. Bank accounts to which payment may be made are contained in Annex Three. ¶3. Annex Two provides the legislative basis, the period covered, the gross and net amounts to be apportioned and the symbol of the document in which the details of the assessments of all member states will be reflected. ¶4. Action requested: Department is requested to facilitate payment of the peacekeeping missions noted above in paragraph ¶1. BOLTON
