1. (SBU) MFA Director for Multilateral Relations Enkhtsetseg
told E/P chief on November 20 that she expects Mongolia will
have its report to the UN Security Council on implementation
of UNSCR 1718 ready sometime during the week of November 27.
She said that MFA has asked various ministries and agencies
to provide information to it on implementation, and that it
has begun to receive responses. She undertook to provide the
embassy a copy of the report when it is ready.
2. (SBU) Ms. Enkhtsetseg stated that on October 25 the
Director of the Mongolian ship registry sent a directive to
all Mongolian flagged vessels ordering them to comply
voluntarily with any search done under UNSCR 1718, and
providing a copy of the resolution. The order states that
Mongolian flagged vessels should not ordinarily carry cargo
to/from North Korea.
