This is an action request. On August 2, Embassy received a diplomatic note from the Tunisian Ministry of Foreign Affairs requesting support for Tunisian candidate Professor Hatem Kotrane for reelection as a member of the U.N. Committee on the Rights of the Child during elections in New York in February 2007. Post seeks Department guidance in responding to this request. ¶2. Begin Text: Tunis, July 27, 2006 The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tunisia presents its compliments to the Embassy of the United States of America, and has the honor to inform the Embassy that the Government of Tunisia has chosen to nominate Professor Hatem Kotrane for reelection as a member of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, of which elections will take place in New York in February 2007 during the eleventh meeting of the states belonging to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Please find Professor Kotrane's curriculum vitae attached. The Tunisian Government would be grateful to the American Government for its valuable support given to candidate Professor Kotrane.
