1. (SBU) Pursuant to reftel instructions, the agenda for the
December 8 UNSCR 1718 Implementation Working Group meeting in
Washington was delivered November 30 to Mr. Teppei Kanda,
Deputy Director of the Non-proliferation, Science and Nuclear
Energy Division of MOFA's Foreign Policy Bureau. Kanda told
Embassy Tokyo Political Officer that the final composition of
Japan's delegation is still being decided upon but that it
will be led by Foreign Policy Bureau Deputy Director General
Masonori Nishi and will include representatives of the
Japanese Defense Agency, National Police Agency, Coast Guard,
and Embassy attaches. Kanda was reminded to have the Japanese
Embassy initiate the foreign visitor request and clearance
process as soon as possible.
