On November 28, MOFA Disarmament, Non-proliferation, and
Science Department (DNSD) official Teppei Kanda advised
Embassy Tokyo that the Japanese government would be pleased
to attend a December 8 UNSCR 1718 Working Group meeting in
Washington, D.C. Kanda, noting that the composition of the
Japanese delegation had not yet been decided, said that the
Japanese side would likely be headed by DNSD Deputy
Director-General Masanori Nishi, and include members of
various Japanese government agencies. Japanese officials
have no objection to participation by New Zealand and/or
Singapore.
