Director Shigeo Yamada explained to Political Section Deputy
that the relevant Japanese authorities were still considering
the U.S. request to facilitate broadcasts from Japan into
North Korea. He did not expect a decision before the week of
November 20, at the earliest. He promised to inform the
Embassy as soon as a decision was reached.
