(C) Embassy Tokyo Political Officer conveyed reftel talking
points on July 12 to MOFA UN Policy Division Director Shigeki
Takizaki and to MOFA Northeast Asia Division Director Naoki
Ito, explaining that the paper was being shared with other UN
Security Council members. We also noted that the Ambassador
would be discussing the DPRK missile issue later that day
with Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe (septel). Ito and
Takizaki thanked us for the information, but had no
substantive comment.
