SUBJECT: ALBANIA'S HIGH-LEVEL ATTENDANCE AT THE UNGA -
PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

(SBU) Per reftel, this message provides preliminary
information on Albania's high-level attendance at the UNGA.
The MFA informed us that the delegation would be headed by
President Alfred Moisiu; the composition of the rest of the
delegation is expected to be decided within the next few
weeks. The MFA also indicated a final decision had not been
made on whether FM Besnik Mustafaj or Deputy FM Edith Harxhi
would attend. Post will provide additional information as
soon as it is available.


A. Attendance of the Head of State
-- Alfred Moisiu, President of the Republic of Albania
-- In New York September 18 through September 26 (tentative)
-- Daughter Mirela Moisiu will accompany (Note: As President
Moisiu's wife is deceased, his daughter is the First Lady of
Albania. End Note.)
-- Will also be accompanied by three advisors, a physician,
and a bodyguard
-- Would require interpretation in Albanian
