(C) Poloff delivered reftel demarche to MFA Sudan Task Force
policy officer Sjord Sjordsma April 25. In a follow up
conversation on April 27, Sjordsma informed poloff that
Developemnt Minister van Ardenne (who controls the
development budget within MFA and plays a lead role on Africa
policy) will send a letter to the African Union leadership in
Addis Ababa making points similar to those in reftel.
Sjordsma said that van Ardenne would not initially send
letters to troop contributing countries or to others within
the AU or AMIS leadership structures, but the possibility
remained open that she might do this later.
