1. (U) Poloff delivered reftel demarche April 27 to MFA
Policy Officer Alain Ancion, who handles the UN Management
Reform Portfolio at the MFA UN and IFIs Department.
2. (C) Ancion said the Netherlands will definitely vote
against the resolution. He added that the Dutch and at least
11 other EU member states have said they will speak at the
committee hearing, if , as anticipated, a vote occurs today.
Ancion said these EU member states are taking the unusual
step of speaking country by country (rather than only through
the EU presidency),in an attempt to counter the expected
chorus of G-77 nations (Egypt, South Africa, Iran, Cuba,
Venezuela, etc.).
