(C) Poloff delivered reftel demarche October 3, to Peter van
der Vliet, Head of Political and Legal Affairs, UN and IFIs
Department, MFA. Van der Vliet had no immediate reaction,
but said he would consult with colleagues in the human rights
and regional offices. He said he had not previously seen the
demarche. Comment: Normally, demarches that are delivered in
Brussels or Geneva make their way quickly to appropriate
offices at MFA - often within hours. This does not always
seem to be the case with demarches delivered to Dutch
officials in New York.
