(C) On April 23, Poloff delivered reftel demarche to Dilyor
Hahimov, head of the International Organizations Section of
the Department of International Financial, Economic,
Environmental and Transport Organizations at the MFA.
Hakhimov said he could not comment on the GOU's policy
towards the World Bank's Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative
(MDRI). He did note however, that Uzbekistan supports any
international foreign debt relief for underdeveloped
countries, and specifically named Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan
as examples.
