¶1. (C) AmCit IREX Country Director departed Tashkent with his
family on April 19. His visa had expired, but he was able to
obtain a one day visa at the airport for his family and
himself. He is now in Ashgabat, where he will continue to
manage IREX regional programs.
¶2. (C) Before they can liquidate (reftel),IREX still has a
customs issue to resolve related to a former employee's
vehicle. (Note: The Ministry of Internal Affairs has 90 days
to investigate the customs issue after which the case could
go to court. End note.) At the end of this period, the
Embassy will try to obtain a visa for the AmCit Director to
return and to try to finish the liquidation process.
