(SBU) Poloff requested a meeting with Farxod Hamraev of the
MFA's UN and International Organizations Department to
discuss the question of CARICC's eventual location.
Hamraev said he was unable to meet with Poloff without
prior approval, but was willing to discuss the issue over
the telephone. In response to reftel points, Hamraev said
that the GOU was considering which of the potential CARICC
venue sites to support, but has not yet made a decision.
He said that that GOU agrees that it is time to move
forward with the project, and that he thinks it likely that
a final decision will be reached at the February 7-8 MOU
Review Meeting in Tashkent.
