(SBU) DHS/ICE databases revealed no negative information about Penta-Kohden Marketing Pte. Ltd. ¶4. (SBU) Econoff on December 11 spoke with Jack Lim, Managing Director of Penta-Kohden. Lim confirmed that SME Ordinance had placed an order for ammunition on behalf of the Malaysian Army Shooting Contingent. According to Lim, the ammunition will be used by the Malaysian Army's shooting team in preparation for and during competitions. Lim stated that Penta-Kohden was the regional product representative for Federal Cartridge Company, hence its involvement in this transaction. Penta-Kohden had done business with SME Ordinance for approximately three years, and Lim said that he had no reason to doubt that SME Ordinance was a reliable recipient of U.S. Munitions List commodities.
