1. (U) This is an action request. See Para. 4.
2. (U) On April 24, Major Ham Hyeonpil from the Korea Arms
Verification Agency (KAVA) contacted poloff to request the
Department's assistance in coordinating a visit to the U.S.
KAVA Deputy Director Colonel(R) Kim Suk Chan, accompanied by
Major Ham, plans to visit the U.S. Defense Threat Reduction
Agency (DTRA) at the invitation of DTRA Director of On-Site
Inspection. Kim's visit to DTRA, including participation in
an exercise planning session, has already been arranged by
DTRA. However, KAVA would appreciate the Department's
assistance in arranging meetings at the 20th Support Command
and the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Agency (CMA) at Aberdeen
Proving Ground on June 6.
3. (U) Draft Itinerary for Col(R) Kim and Maj. Ham:
June 4: Arrive in Washington, D.C.
June 5: Visit DTRA
June 6: Visit the 20th Support Command and U.S. Army Chemical
Materials Agency (CMA)
June 7: Visit a commercial chemical plant near Washington,
D.C.
June 8-9: Personal days (in Washington and in Chicago)
June 10: Depart for Seoul from Chicago
4. (U) Action Request: Post would appreciate the Department's
assistance on arranging KAVA's visit to the 20th Support
Command and the U.S. Army Chemical Materials Agency.
