On April 21, 2006, U.S. Marshals returned Pedro Collado to the United States for trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts, where he is the subject of indictment number CR 00-30034-MAP filed November 2, 2000. As detailed in the indictment, Collado is alleged to have participated in sale of "crack" cocaine in the Springfield, Massachusetts area. ¶2. This case was first submitted to the Dominican Government on September 19, 2002. Following resubmission of the request on February 7, 2006, and issuance of a provisional arrest warrant by the Criminal Chamber of the Dominican Supreme Court, Collado was apprehended by officers of the Dominican National Directorate for Drug Control's Fugitive Unit on April 11, 2006. ¶3. On April 12, 2006, Collado executed a free, voluntary, and knowing waiver of his right to a local extradition hearing. He is the 15th fugitive extradited to the United States during FY-2006 and the 5th extradited during this calendar year. KUBISKE
