(C) On April 25, Poloff briefed reftel talking points to
Wendy Acevedo, Americas Director for the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs regarding the attacks on Ambassador Brownfield.
Acevedo noted that the failure of the Venezuelan government
to respect the diplomatic status of Ambassador Brownfield was
disturbing and that she intended to speak to Foreign Minister
Francisco Lainez on the subject when he returns from his trip
to the Middle East on or around May 2.
