1. (S) Econoff delivered reftel talking points November 16
to Cristina Collura, Director of the Ministry of Finance's
Financial Crimes Prevention Office and member of the
Financial Security Committee (the GOI's interagency working
group which coordinates, and decides upon, terrorism finance
cases). Collura stated that the GOI would unlikely have any
information on the names listed in reftel, as none of these
persons reside in Italy. However, Collura promised to check
with her FSC counterparts and inform us immediately, if
information did emerge.
2. (S) Econoff also delivered reftel talking points
November 17 to Giampaolo Cantini, MFA Director of the Office
for G8 and Global Issues. Cantini did not have any immediate
comment, but reported that he would inform post in two weeks'
time, if the GOI had any additional information.
