Gianpaolo Neri, MFA UN Affairs Office, urging Italy to vote
for Dr. Ruth Wedgwood in the September 7 election for the
United Nations Human Rights Committee. September 2, Neri
responded that Italy would support Dr. Wedgwood's candidacy
in light of her excellent qualifications. Neri noted Prof.
Giorgio Gaja was Italy's candidate for the International Law
Commission and that the GOI hoped to have U.S. support in
that election.
