(C) On July 7 DCM and Russian Charge d'Affairs Andrey Maslov delivered reftel points to Deputy Director General for Political Affairs Giacomo San Felice, G8 Director Giampaolo Cantini, and Director for Disarmament, Arms Control and Non-proliferation Filippo Formica of the Italian MFA. San Felice welcomed the invitation to become a participating country and stated that Italy is a committed partner in international global nonproliferation and anti-terrorist efforts. He declined to give an indication of whether Italy support a Russian-proposed G8 Summit expression of support at this time, however.
