1. Embassy faxed reftel talking points on the EU Draft
Commission Decision proposing fire safety standards for
electrical cables to Amadeo Teti, Ministry of Productive
Activities Director General for International Trade
Agreements, on March 31. Subsequent repeated efforts to
contact Mr. Teti were unsuccessful, though his secretary
confirmed receipt of the talking points. On April 5, EconOff
spoke with Stefano Santacroce at the Ministry of Productive
Activities' Directorate General of Trade. Santacroce was
aware of the draft Commission Decision but did not know the
GOI's position on the issue. Post will continue to follow
this issue and will report any additional information septel.
