1. Pol/Econ Off spoke with Aigars Krastins, Head of the Maritime
Department in the Latvian Ministry of Transportation, on September
22 regarding our candidate for Director of the International Mobile
Satellite Organization, Steven Lett. Krastins stated that he had
received copies of the diplomatic note and Mr. Lett's candidate
brochure which post had previously provided to the MFA, and that
Latvia will be voting for the US candidate as IMSO Director. He
said Latvia will not be sending a delegation to the IMSO Assembly of
Parties meeting in London, but has designated its Embassy
representatives to vote at the Assembly in favor of Mr. Lett.
