1. (C) Poloff met with Czech MFA Director of the UN
Department Jan Kara on August 7 to deliver reftel and discuss
the draft UNSC resolution on Lebanon. He said the Czechs
support the principles and elements set forth in the text of
the draft resolution. Kara called the draft "an excellent
piece of work," which is appropriately "strong and direct."
He believed the resolution is an important step toward ending
the conflict.
