1. (U) MFA Deputy Director for Security Policy Vaclav Balek
informed Poloff that in response to NATO Secretary General
Jaap De Hoop Scheffer's appeal, the Czech government on May
17 approved a donation of EUR 50,000 (USD 70,625) to support
the NTM-I Trust Fund. These funds follow a Czech donation of
EUR 150,000 last year.
2. (C) Comment: With the June 2-3 election's looming, Post
believes the current GOCR would not release futher
additional funds for NTM-I. However, depending on the
results, the next government may prove to be a more promising
target for future rounds of soliciting funds for NTM-I. End
comment.
