Econ Chief made ref A demarche on May 25 to Razia Ali,
Director for International Trade at MFA. Post also
delivered written demarche to MFA as diplomatic note
#97. In our discussion, Ali recalled having spoken
with us on this issue earlier this year (ref B). She
said again that T&T had no problem supporting the
"joint proposal," but repeated that a common CARICOM
view was necessary for T&T to become a co-sponsor. Ali
committed to raise the GI issue again with the
Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery (RNM),whose
job it would be to develop a common CARICOM position.
