SUBJECT: CRIMINAL DEPORTATIONS ARE SCHEDULED TO RESUME

(SBU) Ralph Latortue, the Consul General of Haiti in Miami,
met with the Ambassador on Tuesday, May 16 to discuss the
resumption of criminal deportations. Latortue stated that he
and the Interim Minister of Interior Magloire would travel to
the United States this week and meet with the Department of
Homeland Security in order to schedule the return of the
first Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation flight
(J-PATS) since June 2005. (Note: PolOff has already received
the list of deportees that will be on this flight. End
Note.) Latortue anticipates that the first flight will
arrive next week on Tuesday, May 23. He asked that press not
be involved and the Ambassador assured him that the USG did
not intend to do a press release.
