(C) Further to our May 26 discussions with the MFA on
additional contributions to NTM-I trust fund (ref B),MFA
DAS-equivalent Director for NATO issues Nicolas Niemtchinow
observed on May 29 that unspent funding for the Iraq training
mission currently was in excess of NTM-I needs. A total of
seven million Euros remained for projected expenditures of
six million euros, he added. Given that France was already
the third largest contributor, it would not be increasing its
contributions at present.
