(S) We spoke May 30 with Julien Deruffe, the MFA's senior
desk officer for terrorism, about placing a hold on the
Yemeni request in the UN 1267 Committee to delist Abd
al-Majid al-Zidani. We also passed points to the Economic
Ministry TF officials. According to Deruffe, France was
thinking on exactly the same lines, and already had passed
instructions on Monday May 29 to its mission in New York to
put a hold on the request. France trusts Yemen will get the
message that a delisting request will not be supported.
