Dry for Reasons 1.5 (b),(d) (C) On 16 May, ESTH/NP officer delivered reftel points to French MFA officer for Iran nonproliferation issues, Nicolas Roche, regarding U.S. presentations on Iran's nuclear program for the May 29-June 2 Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) meeting in Rio. In response to points, Roche noted that the French government fully supported the proposed U.S. presentation and approach and was, in fact, planning to make a similar presentation at the NSG meeting. The French presentation would highlight the increase in Iranian enrichment activities. Roche noted that France would be particularly interested in any updated information the U.S. government had regarding Iranian reprocessing. Roche further remarked that France had already begun to apply strict refusal standards to trigger list, dual-use, and non-listed watchlist items concerning Iran, and at the Rio meetings will stress the need for similar vigilance on the part of all NSG partners.
