DEFEATING VENEZUELA IN THE 2006 ELECTION FOR NON-PERMANENT

(C) Ambassador Eaton presented Reftel demarche on Defeating
Venezuela in the 2006 Election for Non-Permanent Seat on the
UN Security Counsel to Foreign Minister Samuel Lewis on
February 24. Lewis told Ambassador Eaton "I hear you loud
and clear" on defeating Venezuela in the 2006 UNSC election.
Lewis, however, did not commit to supporting the U.S. on this
issue and wants to continue talking with us about it.
Ambassador Eaton told Lewis he wants to continue the
discussion to ensure Panama doesn't support Venezuela.
