Makriyiannis assured us that Cyprus would follow the EU's lead with regard to the Sudan and support the rehatting of African Union forces (AMIS) into a UN peacekeeping force (UNMIS),while also continuing to press for a peace deal. Charlambos Hadjisavvas, who handles Middle East issues in the MFA's Political Affairs Division, was on the road accompanying Foreign Minister Iacovou to the Arab League Summit in Khartoum.
