(C) Summary: Total headcount of U.S. citizens received in Cyprus as of 1115L was 3753. POL/MIL ¶2. (C) Arrivals from Beirut to Larnaca via the Beirut Air Bridge (BAB) are expected to conclude July 21. CONSULAR ¶3. The Orient Queen will return to Beirut July 21 at 1500. --827 U.S. citizens have departed on U.S. charter flights as of 0800 July 21. 1035 are expected to depart on four flights from Paphos July 21, and 1946 on July 22 (however we are actively seeking to add aircraft). --CONS Nicosia will move screening of undocumented U.S. citizens (mostly infants) and TCNs to Embassy Nicosia; thus far name checks have been conducted for all; post will now aim to issue passports or visas for all. --CONS Nicosia working to streamline charter flight manifests to develop transparent and efficient system of transporting all people quickly. MANAGEMENT ¶4. (U) The following are management updates. --Approximately 1,000 people are currently at the Fairgrounds, with numbers increasing as the Orient Queen passengers disembark. We expect 3,800 people to spend the night in Cyprus July 21. The Coral Bay hotel in Paphos has donated 200 rooms. --Now have a total of 1300 cots at the Fairgrounds and another 1,000 are in transit. DAO is working on sending another 1,000 for a total of 3,300. --Two telephone lines and one fax have been installed at the Fairgrounds, working on internet. --Fully-equipped medical station is being established and staffed 24/7 at Fairgrounds with the support of military. --CTF 59 is also providing 10-12 personnel to help RSO manage public order at the Fairgrounds. PUBLIC AFFAIRS ¶5. (U) PAO is at the Limassol port July 21; 4 PD staff have been moved to the Paphos airport. The Ambassador has scheduled press interviews at 1730L at the Paphos airport. SCHLICHER
