On August 11, Post received a hardcopy of the July 26 agreement signed by the Government of Chad and the Government of Sudan. Below is a translation of the relevant points of the agreement: ¶2. (BEGIN TRANSLATION) The two parties agree to interdict the use of their respective territories for hostile activities against the sovereignty and the territorial integrity of the other; The two parties agree to interdict the presence and hosting of rebel elements in their respective territories. The two parties agree to create a political commission to follow-up on the present agreement, overseen by the Foreign Affairs Ministries of the two countries; The commission will meet in Khartoum and in N'Djamena, alternately, once every three months, or as the conditions merit; The parties agree to the creation of a military/security commission, charged with overseeing the border between the two countries; The creation of a mixed military force that will be deployed in the following zones: Bahai, Tine, Koulbous, Khor Baranga, Amdjireme, Adre, Ade, Modohina, El Djinena, Tissi, Amdoukoun; The two parties agree that restoring diplomatic relations between the two countries should be left to the discretion of the two Heads of State; The two parties will work so that the mechanisms relative to articles 3,4,5,6,7, and 8 take effect within a time-frame not to exceed one months from the date of the signature of the present minutes.
