1. Following up on reftels, on February 4 Pol/Econ chief
spoke to Seif al-Rizaiqi, director of the Minister's office
at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) to encourage
Omani attendance at the upcoming MENA-OECD Investment
Ministerial in Jordan. Al-Rizaiqi confirmed Oman's receipt
of the Jordanian invitation, but initially indicated that
there would be no Omani attendance at any level. Noting the
Embassy's disappointment, he subsequently phoned back to
correct his response, saying that a high-level delegation
would in fact represent Oman in Jordan.
2. According to al-Rizaiqi, the Omani delegation to the
MENA-OECD Investment Ministerial will be as follows:
-- Engineer Ahmed Hassan al-Dheeb, MOCI Under Secretary for
Commerce and Industry;
-- Salim Nasser al-Ismaily, Executive President, Omani
Center for Investment and Export Development; and
-- Mohammed Nasser al-Shoraiqi, Director General, Oman
Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
