(SBU) On April 26, Political Counselor delivered ref A
demarche to the MFA's Director for Multilateral Affairs
Gustavo Alvarez, urging GOU support at the June 20-21
International Conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in
Geneva to reflect the adoption of the Third Additional
Protocol and to amend statutes for adopting the new "Red
Crystal" protective emblem. Alvarez said that Uruguay has
always been supportive on the issue of Magen David Adom (MDA)
and a third neutral emblem and would continue to be
supportive.
