Angel Benavides, Director of International Policy for Civil
and Political Rights, and Sylvia Cabrera, Director for
Democracy, both of the Office of Human Rights at the
Secretariat for Foreign Relations (SRE). Benavides recognized

the significant contribution Professor Wedgwood has made to
the Human Rights Committee over the last four years. He also
acknowledged the convenience in reelecting her to the
committee, allowing her to continue her fine work. Mexico,
however, is still considering its decision for the September
7 vote. Post will report any developments as they become
available.
