(U) Acting Pol/C provided the invitation documents for the ASEAN Regional Forum Workshop on UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1540 to Department of Foreign Affairs Special Assistant to the Undersecretary of Policy Maria Andrelita Austria December 28. Ms. Austria stated that the Philippines had a "keen, abiding interest" in the implementation of UNSCR 1540, noting that her country had served as vice chairman of the 1540 Sanctions Committee during its tenure on the Security Council. ¶2. (U) Ms. Austria said she did not yet know the exact composition of the Philippine delegation to the San Francisco meeting, but stressed that it would be inter-agency in nature, including representatives from the Department of National Defense, National Security Council, and Department of Foreign Affairs.
