1. (SBU) Poloff on October 27 delivered reftel demarche
requesting an extension of the destruction deadline under the
Chemical Weapons Convention to Department of Foreign Affairs
United Nations and International Organizations (UNIO)
Director Jesus Domingo and Assistant Director Gunther Sales.
Domingo stated that the request was "reasonable," and voiced
no objection to it. He noted that UNIO has not yet forwarded
a recommendation to Foreign Secretary Romulo on the question.
