(C) The Ambassador delivered reftel demarche to Foreign
Minister Shaikh Khalid Al-Khalifa during a September 8
meeting, urging that Bahrain respond positively to a Lebanese
request for a $3 million contribution toward repairing
damaged or destroyed LAF facilities. Shaikh Khalid was not
aware of any specific request or approach by Lebanon, but
welcomed the opportunity to discuss it with the Lebanese and
said he would raise the issue with the King and Prime
Minister. Lebanon, he said, needs all the help it can get.
