(C) A/DCM June 28 delivered reftel demarche concerning UN reform to MFA Director for International Organization Affairs Ghassan Shaikho. Shaikho said this issue had been discussed during the NAM meeting at the end of May. The NAM took the decision to convey to the G-8 that the G-77 is ready and eager to cooperate on UN reform. The G-77 does not seek confrontation. Shaikho said he thought this message had already been delivered by either Malaysia, host of the meeting, or South Africa, chair of the session on the UN. Shaikho said he expected the G-77 and G-8 to have a "cooperative and meaningful dialogue." ¶2.
